The government has decided to reduce the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) digital textbooks than originally planned and delay the introduction of some subjects.

The Ministry of Education announced that it will withdraw its plan to introduce AI digital textbooks in two subjects, Korean language, technology, and home, and delay the introduction of social studies and science by one year to 2027.

It was explained that it reflected the opinions of superintendents of metropolitan and provincial education that the characteristics of the subject should be considered in relation to the introduction of AI textbooks.

Next year, the introduction of mathematics, English, and information courses for the 3rd and 4th graders of elementary school and the 1st graders of middle and high school will proceed as scheduled.

The Ministry of Education confirmed and released 76 AI textbooks for the subject and emphasized that the verification committee consisting of experts and field teachers closely verified the content review and technical completeness of effective customized learning.
