Eleven Chinese and Russian military aircraft were confirmed to have violated the Korean air defense identification zone, KADIZ, today.

From 9:35 a.m. to 1:53 p.m., five Chinese and six Russian military aircraft left the East Sea and South Sea Cadiz sequentially, and there were no airspace violations, the Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

The military identified it even before entering Cadiz and said it deployed air force fighters to take tactical action against contingencies.

In this regard, the Ministry of National Defense explained that Woo Kyung-seok, the head of the regional security cooperation TF, strongly protested to China's defense secretary and Russia's defense secretary in Korea by wire and urged China and Russia to make efforts to prevent a recurrence.

Air defense identification zones are arbitrary lines established to identify and respond to military aircraft approaching their airspace early, and it is international practice to submit a flight plan to the country in advance and notify the location upon entry.
