Amid a growing political battle over the opposition party's push to impeach prosecutors, prosecutors' opposition is also growing.

Rebellion within the organization seems to be spreading, with the leadership of the Central and Southern District Prosecutors' Offices as well as the deputy chief prosecutor of the Central District Prosecutors' Office issuing a statement.

In response to the Democratic Party of Korea's push to impeach the command, all prosecutors at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office posted a statement on its internal network.

In a third real-name statement following the deputy prosecutor and the chief prosecutor, 21 deputy prosecutors said the impeachment proceedings were not a way to object to a particular case.

He stressed that the investigative prosecutor should not be impeached just because the desired result has not been achieved, and that successive attempts to impeach prosecutors would set a false precedent that abuses democratic legitimacy given by the people.

At the same time, he appealed for prosecutors to reconsider impeachment so that they can be faithful to their original duties of protecting the people in accordance with laws and principles.

The chief prosecutors of each department, who are the most senior prosecutors among the public prosecutors, also held a lunchtime meeting to discuss countermeasures after gathering opinions from the public prosecutors of each department.

They are reportedly considering issuing a statement in the name of public prosecutors.

A day ago, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office also made it clear in a statement that it opposes impeachment, and prosecutors at the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office have also posted related positions, spreading internal opposition to the "prosecutor impeachment."

The Central District Prosecutors' Office is also considering filing an injunction request to the Constitutional Court to "stop the effect of suspension of duties," believing that if the impeachment is passed and the prosecutors' duties are suspended.
