Rep. Park Soo-young, a secretary of the committee, held a press conference and said that the ruling and opposition party lawmakers and the government have been working together to narrow their differences at the tax subcommittee for the past two weeks, but the Democratic Party opposed the bills, saying they could never agree.
He then argued that even if these bills were decided by a meeting of floor leaders between the two parties, the remaining 11 tax bills, which are not controversial, should be handled by the standing committee today, but even this was rejected by the opposition party.
If the standing committee fails to pass the bill by midnight today, it will become unclear whether all bills on people's livelihoods discussed day and night, and leave it to the last agreement between the floor leaders of both parties, he said, adding that he expects the Democratic Party to make a wise decision.
