The court has again ruled that Japanese war criminal companies should compensate victims of forced labor for damages.

On the 26th, the Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of part of the plaintiff, saying, "The defendant should pay 100 million won to the plaintiffs," in a lawsuit filed by the bereaved families of the forced mobilization victim Yoo against Japan Steel.

The court in question also made Japan Steel pay 100 million won in compensation in a lawsuit filed by other victims of forced mobilization and the bereaved families of Yoon.

The court judged that Japan Steel's conduct constituted an act of crimes against humanity directly linked to the illegal colonial rule of the Japanese government or the conduct of the war of aggression at the time.

Yu, who was born in 1927, was forced to work for more than three years when he was 15 years old at the Yahata Steel Mill in Japan.

Yoon, who was born in 1916, was also forced to work at a Kamashii steel mill in Japan, and his thumb on his left hand was amputated.
