According to the statistics of automobiles by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the total number of domestic hybrid cars registered until October this year was 1.92 million.
Considering that an average of 40,000 new units are recently registered every month, it is expected to exceed 2 million units within this year.
This is 16 years after hybrid cars were first introduced in Korea, and demand has increased in the aftermath of decarbonization and temporary stagnation in demand for electric vehicles.
Driven by the popularity of hybrid cars, the proportion of eco-friendly cars, including hybrid, electric and hydrogen cars, reached double digits for the first time as of October.
