The place behind me is the place of the accident.
If you look at the floor, you'll see vehicle fragments.
There was originally a wall where the blue tent was set up, but now it has collapsed in an accident and officials have controlled access.
YTN has secured a video that contains the situation at the time.
If you look at the video at that time, you can also see a car rushing straight into the wall and a train passing by.
The accident happened at 6:46 a.m. today.
An electric train passing between Geumcheon-gu Office Station and Seoksu Station on Subway Line 1 in the Seoul metropolitan area collided with a passenger car.
At that time, there were a total of 300 people on the train.
The car was found to have smashed the railroad wall and rushed into the track. Two people, including a man in his 50s and a passenger car driver, were injured and taken to the hospital in
.
It has been confirmed that no one was injured on the subway, including passengers or engineers.
About 300 passengers on the train got off at Geumcheon-gu Office Station at around 7:35 a.m., about 50 minutes after the accident and changed to another train.Train operations were once partially delayed as one of the two descending tracks was controlled to deal with the
accident.
It's past 9 a.m. and now it's operating normally.
The Korea Railroad Corporation and Korail explained that eight high-speed trains, nine regular trains, and 20 electric trains were delayed by about 10 to 40 minutes due to the accident.
A police investigation confirmed that the man in his 50s who drove the car was not behind the wheel after drinking alcohol.
The driver previously told police that a car accident at a nearby three-way intersection broke the brakes, which was followed by a car that broke through the retaining wall and fell onto the track.
The driver and passenger reportedly got off shortly after the vehicle broke through the wall and stopped on the track, avoiding further anger.
Police are investigating the exact cause of the accident against the driver and Korail.
So far, I'm YTN's Yusuhyeon at the scene of the subway line 1 accident.
