Heavy snow poured over the northeastern part of the country's biggest holiday, the Thanksgiving holiday, putting roads and air traffic on alert.

New York and Pennsylvania declared states of emergency and accidents followed everywhere.

New York State, USA, can't see in the endless snow.

The road is full of snow, so you can't tell how far the road is, let alone the lane.

Cars are stopped all over the highway that has turned into a snowfield.

I-90 highways from Illinois to Pennsylvania in the United States are closed due to heavy snow.

Heavy snow warnings were issued in the northeastern United States, New York State declared a state of emergency, and Pennsylvania declared a state of disaster.

The National Weather Service issued a heavy snow warning on the southern coast of Lake Erie and the eastern coast of Lake Ontario on the 30th local time.

The Bureau of Meteorology predicted up to 120 cm of snow could accumulate in the region by the 2nd and snow could reach 150 cm in parts of Ohio by the 3rd.

Lake Erie, Lake Ontario, and other Great Lakes coasts are areas where cold air flows over the lake and snow clouds are created, resulting in heavy snow accompanied by severe cold weather in winter.

[Mark Poloncarz / Chief Executive, Erie County, Pennsylvania] It's going to be conditions similar to snowstorms. It's not Blizzard, but when the wind gets stronger, it'll sometimes get above 30mph (48km/h), when you'll have a whiteout phenomenon where you can't see at all.]

Pennsylvania police say more than 200 traffic accidents were reported in a single day.

The U.S. Transportation Authority said the heavy snow was very dangerous in some areas and asked people to avoid driving their vehicles.

Along with heavy snow, the National Weather Service issued a cold wave warning for North Dakota and predicted that the cold would spread eastward, saying cold air from the Arctic had dropped sharply to temperatures.
