U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has decided to appoint his in-laws as an advisor for Arab and Middle Eastern affairs, following the U.S. ambassador to France.

Trump announced on his social media on the 1st local time that he would appoint Masad Bullos, a Lebanese-American, as a senior adviser on Arab and Middle Eastern affairs.

"Masad is a competent lawyer and respected leader in the business community and has extensive experience on the international stage," Trump said. "He has played an important role in forming a new coalition with the Arab American community in the campaign."

"Masad is a deal fixer and a staunch supporter of peace in the Middle East," he continued, adding that he would "strongly defend U.S. interests."

Bullos, the father-in-law of President-elect Trump's daughter Tiffany Trump, met with Arab and Muslim American leaders several times during the presidential election and played a role in solidifying Trump's support, U.S. media said.

Earlier, Trump said he would appoint Charles Kushner, the father-in-law of his eldest daughter Ivanka, as ambassador to France.

Trump, who has been married three times, has five children: Trump Jr., Ivanka, Eric, Tiffany and Barron.
