The accident near the Donginju Interchange on the Suncheon-Wanju Expressway in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, occurred at around 7 p.m. yesterday.

A car running on the second lane hit the first lane vehicle while changing lanes, and another vehicle that followed hit it one after another.The traffic jam occurred in the aftermath of the

accident, resulting in a second accident in which four cars collided in a series 30 minutes later.

A total of six people were injured, including one driver breaking his ankle in the second accident when seven vehicles collided.

Police say there was no drunk driver, and are investigating the exact cause of the accident based on black boxes and driver statements.

Around the same time, Captain A in his 50s, who was getting off the ship at Nokdong Port Pier in Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do, tripped and fell into the sea.

After receiving the report, the Coast Guard immediately came to the rescue, and A was not seriously injured except for showing symptoms of low body temperature.

There were also a series of traffic accidents and casualties.

In Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, a car making an unprotected left turn collided with a motorcycle going straight from the other side, killing a motorcyclist in his 30s.

In Cheorwon, a 79-year-old man crossing the national road was hit by a car and taken to a hospital in cardiac arrest.

Police believe the accident occurred due to jaywalking and are investigating the exact circumstances.
