The Gacheon Cultural Foundation has been working hard to inherit and preserve our traditional culture and tea ceremony.

It even opened an education center that was commissioned by Choi Ki-young, a national intangible cultural property, and built as a traditional hanok for more than two years.

Reporter Kang Tae-wook reports.

A traditional hanok recently opened in Okryeon-dong, Incheon.

About 20 elementary school children were invited as the first guests.

This is to learn about our traditional tea and culture.

[Lee Gil-yeo / Founder of Gachon Cultural Foundation: Being considerate of others, being polite, and communicating with each other, but I think it's meaningful]

Children change into robes and sit on cushions wearing gats.

After taking a lecture on basic etiquette, put your hands together and bow.

Then, you learn how to brew and drink our traditional tea on your own.

[Choi Ha-joon / 6th grade in Guwol Elementary School, Incheon] Other drinks are cool and feel a little good, but I feel a little calm when I drink tea.]

This is an educational program that the Gachon Cultural Foundation has been doing for 12 years.

This time, it was done at the recently opened 'Gajin Genius'.

Ga Genius is a traditional hanok built by founder Lee Gil-yeo for more than two years at the request of Choi Ki-young, the only national intangible cultural property.

The 500-year-old head of Hwajangmok, which grew up at the foot of Geumgangsan Mountain, was used as a pillar and beam.

It was done in the traditional way of finely digging grooves, so none of the nails were used.

As it is an educational center made with traditional materials and methods, I hope that children will feel, learn, and spread the tradition.

[Lee Gil-yeo / Founder of Gachon Cultural Foundation: Jiwa Yewa Hyo. While teaching this, I hope to raise them as such children who teach tea culture and promote our tea so widely.]

The foundation aims to attract more than 2,000 students every year.
