When it was belatedly known that Park Seo-jin, a singer who appeared in TV Chosun's "Mr. Trot 2," was exempted from the military due to mental illness, complaints poured out on KBS to suspend his appearance.

On the 28th of last month, a message was posted on the KBS viewer bulletin board, saying, "Please do not allow public figures who evade the duty of national defense to appear on public broadcasting."

The author said, "As KBS, a public broadcaster, is a broadcaster that prioritizes public interests, the ban on immoral public figures from appearing in programs is basic, and please do not even list them as candidates for the glorious festival ending the year."

"I knew (Park Seo-jin) would join the military within this year, and he also said he wanted to make a hit song before joining the military," he said. "But why are you posting an article today that he was exempted from military service due to mental illness caused by a family doctor?"

He pointed out, "For fans who have allowed them to come up to the current position in both ways, such a move other than common sense is an act of fooling and deceiving the people," adding, "It makes me speechless that a public figure who does this was greedy for the rookie award at the public broadcaster KBS this year."

The author also attached Park Seo-jin's mention of the military issue in an interview with the media in October last year. At the time, Park Seo-jin said, "I have a goal I really want to achieve before joining the military. "I think we should make at least one hit song that everyone knows," he said. The article was revised on the 29th of last month, a year later, and all contents related to "military enlistment" have been deleted.

The Military Manpower Administration also posted a petition asking for Park Seo-jin, who has healed his mental and physical disability, to join the military. The civil petitioner said, "If Park Seo-jin submits an application to change his military service disposition to the head of the local military service before the age of 36, when he is exempted from the obligation to enlist active-duty soldiers, social service personnel, and alternative service personnel, please answer whether it is possible to change his military service disposition to active-duty or social service personnel."

Earlier, Park Seo-jin said he would join the military this year, but his agency, Ostrich Entertainment, said on the 28th of last month that "Park Seo-jin was exempted from military service in his early 20s due to mental illness caused by family deaths."

In the past, Park Seo-jin confessed in various broadcast appearances that the two brothers died while fighting chronic renal failure and liver cancer, respectively, and even his mother was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer and suffered a period of pain.

He dropped out of high school for his mother's hospital expenses and worked as a boatman for his father. In the process, Park Seo-jin showed symptoms of depression and insomnia, and was exempted from military service due to mental illness by physical examination of the Military Manpower Administration.

Park Seo-jin, born in 1995, debuted with her first single "Dream" in 2013 and appeared in "Mr. Trot 2" to make her face known. He has been active in various TV programs such as 'Immortal Songs - Singing Legend', 'I'm a trot singer', and 'Living Men Season 2'.
