The National Institute of Environmental Research said that the inflow of smog from China in the afternoon has raised the concentration of ultrafine dust in Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi to 38μg per cubic meter, or to a "bad" level.
He added that as the northwest wind blows, the dust moves southeast, and there is a possibility that the concentration of ultrafine dust will increase in inland areas such as Chungcheong, Honam, and Yeongnam.
The temporarily increased concentration of ultrafine dust is expected to be resolved as cold winds come down from the north, facilitating the spread of the atmosphere overnight.
