The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office issued a statement to the prosecution's internal network E-Pros today (2nd) and expressed deep concern and regret over the situation in which the head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office is seeking to impeach the command.
They criticized that attempting to impeach a prosecutor involved on the grounds of investigating and disposing of a particular case risks seriously undermining the prosecution's independence and neutrality guaranteed by the Constitution and laws.
He added that impeachment is a last resort to protecting the Constitution in response to serious violations of the Constitution and laws by high-ranking officials, and that the ongoing impeachment attempt is unfair because it is inconsistent with the constitution's predetermined circumstances.
With the impeachment motion against three prosecutors, including Lee Chang-soo, the head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, proposed today, the voting process is expected to take place at the National Assembly plenary session the day after tomorrow (4th).
