"Need to understand the specific circumstances of the separate schedule"

It has been confirmed that the head of the Sejong Fire Department, who suddenly canceled his plan to go on a foreign business trip ahead of his retirement at the end of this month, set up a separate schedule different from the schedule approved by Sejong City.

Looking at the contents, it seems difficult to avoid pointing out that the training schedule has been reduced and that it is actually planned to go on a business trip abroad due to the abundance of famous tourist attractions.

Reporter Lee Sang-gon's exclusive report.

This is a short-term overseas training schedule approved by Sejong City by Sejong Fire Headquarters.

After three days of training at an Australian educational institution, he will visit the fire museum and a local fire station in Sydney.

However, it has been confirmed that a separate schedule has been prepared and distributed to business travelers.

When I got and checked the real schedule, the actual training period is only two days, not three days.

After the completion ceremony, it was filled only with visits to major Australian tourist attractions such as the Opera House and Blue Mountains National Park.

It was found that Jang Dae-yong, the head of the fire department, who is scheduled to retire from the retirement age at the end of this month, tried to join all of these schedules.

[A / Sejong Fire official: We're going there for training, but if the training period has been reduced and tourism has increased compared to last year, wouldn't it be better to go on a filial tour?]]

The report confirmed that a travel agency was selected for this schedule and collected 1.05 million won per person.

[Mr. B / Sejong Fire official: There was a part that exceeded the budget, so I think he didn't spend the budget on that part and shared it with his own money.]

Civil taxpayers' money is used for education and airfare for firefighters, and critics say it is actually an out-of-the-way destination.

The Sejong Fire Department gave an ambiguous explanation that it selected a travel agency because it considered the schedule after training as free time due to lack of experience.

In this regard, Sejong City said it believes that business travelers will carry out their approved business trip plans, but that it needs to find out the details of the separate schedule.

The official documents containing this business trip plan and schedule were finally approved by the head of the fire department and were closed to the public.

After an Australian educational institution sent an invitation, education expenses increased by 12 million won and there was a separate schedule full of tourist attractions, so a thorough investigation is needed.
