A 2.4-magnitude earthquake struck near Gilju, North Hamgyong Province, North Korea at 11:04 p.m. last night.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said that the earthquake occurred in the area where North Korea's nuclear test site is located, but this earthquake is analyzed to be a natural earthquake, not an artificial one.

The epicenter of the earthquake is 41 km north-northwest of Gilju and 12 km deep.

This year, there have been 20 natural earthquakes with a magnitude of 2.0 or higher near Gilju, North Korea, including this one.
