As the war in Ukraine drags on, the calculations of major Western countries are also complicating.
German Chancellor Scholz, who spoke directly to Russian President Putin not long ago, made a surprise visit to Ukraine and expressed strong support, and on the same day, the German foreign minister visited China and vowed cooperation.
Correspondent Jo Su-hyun reports from London.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz made an unannounced visit to Kyiv, Ukraine, for the first time in two and a half years.
It has been 17 days since he had a war of nerves with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy over a phone call with Russian President Putin.
[Volodymyr Zelensky / President of Ukraine: I knew that Prime Minister Scholz would communicate with the Russian side. There was also a related talk at today's meeting.]
The two leaders visited the war memorial to commemorate Ukrainian soldiers and inspected military drones produced by companies from both countries.
Scholz is said to have promised to provide additional military aid worth 650 million euros and 1 trillion won this month at the summit.
He has not expressed a different stance on supporting his country's Taurus missiles, which has been drawing a line, but stressed that he will stand by Ukraine forever.
[Olaf Scholz / German Chancellor] I'm not saying we're providing less support (for not providing certain weapons). Our support will continue to be broad.]
However, contrary to the public expression of support, the German government's inner workings seem complicated.
Analysts say that Prime Minister Scholz's phone call with Putin for the first time among major Western leaders since the opening of the war clearly shows this situation, apart from the contents.
Germany has also made clear its opposition to Ukraine's accession to NATO.
On the same day, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock visited China and met with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
Minister Baerbock also pointed out China's support for Russia, but
[Annalena Baerbock / German Foreign Minister: Chinese factory-made drones and North Korean troops threatening peace in Europe violate our core security interests.]
Nevertheless, they agreed that it is important for the two countries to continue practical economic cooperation.
On the same day, the German chancellor visited Ukraine and the foreign minister visited China to meet with their counterparts, appearing to take care of both sides in the turbulent international situation. I'm Jo Suhyun of YTN in London.
