Applications for contributions to non-regular military activities during the Korean War will be received additionally from April next year.

The Ministry of National Defense said it will receive additional applications for contributions from April 1 next year to March 31, 2026, for those who died while acting as irregular soldiers during the Korean War.The

Non-Regular Military Compensation Act' was enacted on April 13, 2021, to pay contributions to those who belonged to KLO units, U.S. 8240 units, Yeongdo Uprising, and 6004 units as civilians during the war.

The Ministry of National Defense said that the application for compensation has expired as of October 16 last year, but the period has been extended in consideration of the grievances of elderly contributors and bereaved families who have yet to apply.

He added that through 33 deliberations since the enactment of the law, 3,778 irregular military contributors were recognized and 36 billion won was paid to himself and his family members.
