With the passage of the amendment to the
related law, we can now know the gender of the baby as much as we want, even if it is 32 weeks before pregnancy.
Gender "Prepare pink clothes"
So far, 32 weeks before I was pregnant, I was given gender status with some sort of subtle expressions like "pink clothes, blue clothes."
However, in the future, it will be possible to clearly check gender without being limited by the number of weeks of pregnancy.
Current medical law prohibits medical personnel from notifying fetal sex to prevent abortion of girls according to the preference for boys in the past
The regulation, which bans fetal gender notification before 32 weeks of pregnancy, first appeared back in 1987,
It was a time when abortions were openly carried out due to the influence of
preference for boys.
To prevent this kind of situation, we made sure not to let you know your gender before 32 weeks of pregnancy.
However, in February, the Constitutional Court decided that this regulation was against the Constitution for the first time in 37 years.
This is because the gender imbalance has been resolved as the preference for boys has declined, and fetal information, including gender, is a right for parents to know.
In a follow-up to the
constitutional decision, the National Assembly passed an amendment to the medical law that would allow fetal gender to be notified 32 weeks ago.
Now, doctors and prospective parents can freely talk about fetal gender without worrying.
