After President Yoon Suk Yeol declared an emergency martial law on the night of the 3rd, the medical community is in a state of turmoil after the martial law command decree contained the "return of medical personnel such as medical residents within 48 hours."

In its first decree, the martial law command said, "All medical personnel who are on strike, including medical doctors, will return to their main job within 48 hours and work faithfully, and violations will be punished by martial law."

Currently, most medical doctors at training hospitals nationwide have left the hospital in February in protest of the government's increase in medical schools, and major hospitals have accepted their resignations in June.

Half of the resignation majors are currently employed and working at other medical institutions.

After the proclamation was announced, doctors at Sajik University are showing great confusion as to how far they are eligible to return.

A, who majored in Sajik, said, "The group chat room of my major is going crazy right now. Everyone is confused, he said. "I'm working in the emergency room of another hospital, and I'm not sure if I'm asking you to leave this hospital and go to the original training hospital."

Another resignation major, B, also said, "I have not been individually ordered to return," adding, "Everyone is in a very surprised atmosphere."

An official from Seoul National University Hospital explained, "All the majors have been resigned, so there are no cases of strikes or departures."

An official from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the main ministry, said, "We need to discuss the implementation of the decree immediately."
