Yes, first of all, around midnight, there was news that martial law forces attempted to enter the National Assembly headquarters. Some members of the
army tried to enter by breaking the National Assembly window.
Aides from the ruling and opposition parties gathered at the main office blocked the entrance with National Assembly objects, made a human chain or sprayed fire extinguishers to resist.
As martial law forces continue to try to enter the plenary hall, the plenary session at 0:48 was considered.
Then, around 1 a.m., the agenda for lifting the emergency martial law was presented to the plenary session, and the agenda was passed in about a minute.
All 190 of the 190 present were in favor, and when the agenda was passed, lawmakers applauded and cheered. It's been about 2 hours and 30 minutes since President
Yoon declared emergency martial law.
Shortly after the resolution was passed, Chairman Woo said that the declaration of martial law was nullified.
President Yoon then immediately called for the emergency martial law to be lifted, and the military and police in the National Assembly's precinct to return to their seats immediately.
I added that the people also need to be relieved.
Currently, opposition lawmakers plan to wait in the plenary session until President Yoon officially lifts martial law.
The martial law army, which entered the National Assembly's main office, began to withdraw after the martial law lifting plan was passed.
Han Dong-hoon, chairman of the People's Power, told reporters shortly after the approval that he was very sorry that this happened as the ruling party.
He then urged President Yoon to immediately declare the lifting of martial law in accordance with the Constitution in respect of the people and the will of the National Assembly.
Immediately after the approval, opposition figures issued a series of messages condemning President Yoon.
Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, said that the declaration of martial law, which is unconstitutional and illegal both procedurally and practically, is invalid.
He then stressed that the declaration of martial law will not fall into a worse situation, but will be a decisive opportunity to break the vicious cycle and return to a normal society.
Cho Kuk, chairman of the Innovation Party, also stressed that declaring emergency martial law is illegal and that at least Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun should be punished and impeached.
Han Chang-min of the Social Democratic Party and Yong Hye-in of the Basic Income Party argued that President Yoon should step down immediately and transfer the government peacefully.
I'll get back to you with the details as soon as they come in.
