Immediately after President Yoon's declaration of martial law, Army Chief of Staff Park An-soo was appointed as the martial law commander.
The martial law history was prepared in the Ministry of National Defense, where the Joint Chiefs of Staff was located, and martial law was reportedly carried out at the recommendation of Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun.
Shortly after martial law was declared, martial law issued a six-point first decree.
It prohibits all political activities and acts that deny the liberal democratic system, and says all media and publications are controlled by martial law.
It also banned strikes or rallies and added that if striking medical personnel do not return to their main jobs within 48 hours, they will be punished by martial law.
Soon after the proclamation was announced, the situation turned urgent, with a group of martial law troops being sent to the National Assembly by helicopter.
Emergency standby orders were also issued for commanders above the level of battalion commander in frontline units.
However, as the ruling and opposition parties unanimously passed the demand for the lifting of martial law in the National Assembly, the martial law command, which had to carry out the order, was in a difficult situation.
An official from the Ministry of National Defense said that they have no choice but to maintain martial law until the president accepts and lifts the National Assembly's demands.
The military, which has emphasized political neutrality, has been in a political whirlwind for the first time in more than 40 years, and has been restless all night inside and outside the military.
