"The United States has been closely monitoring the situation in South Korea for the past 24 hours," Blinken said in a statement on the 3rd local time.
"We welcome President Yoon's remarks that he will withdraw his order to declare emergency martial law in accordance with the Constitution after the National Assembly unanimously passed a resolution to lift martial law," Blinken said.
"We continue to look forward to the peaceful resolution of political differences and the rule of law," he said. "We reaffirm our support for the Korea-U.S. alliance based on the common principles of the Korean people, democracy and the rule of law."
