Author condemns martial law in publishing industry... "Hangangang achievement overshadowed"

Literature groups have issued a series of statements condemning the declaration of martial law last night and have held Yoon Suk Yeol president accountable.

First of all, the Korean Publishers Association, a group of book publishers, criticized the martial law for overshadowing the achievement of Han Kang's Nobel Prize in Literature, which represents democratic achievements and cultural achievements.

Furthermore, the martial law command said last night's decree temporarily restricted the freedom of publication, stressing that stern responsibility should be held.

The Korean Writers Association, one of Korea's leading literary groups, also called for the impeachment of President Yoon, saying last night's declaration of martial law was a betrayal of the people and the Constitution.

He stressed that it should be brought to justice as it is clear that criminal acts that crush the constitution without having to list and refute them one by one.
