Five provincial and provincial governors from Gyeonggi Province, Gwangju, Jeonnam, Jeonbuk and Jeju issued a joint statement this afternoon (4th) and demanded that President Yoon Suk Yeol step down immediately, saying, "It has become clear that he is not qualified and capable of taking responsibility for the state affairs of the Republic of Korea."
The heads of the organizations said, "This declaration of martial law is clearly unconstitutional and invalid," and emphasized, "President Yoon should be responsible for the destruction of the constitutional order."
He added, "Just as the pain of Gwangju was sublimated to democratization of the Republic of Korea in May 1980, last night's crisis should be made an opportunity for the maturity of democracy in the Republic of Korea."
