Kim Myung-soo, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, instructed major military commanders to maintain a thorough readiness posture to prevent North Korea from making misjudgment after the emergency martial law was lifted.

Chairman Kim held an emergency operations commanders' meeting by video this morning and made the remarks.

He then emphasized maintaining operational discipline, focusing on monitoring and alert operations against North Korea, and protecting public safety, which is the military's original mission.

For the time being, Chairman Kim made sure that unit movements other than preparedness tasks, such as monitoring North Korea and alert operations, will be carried out under the control of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff explained that the plan is aimed at restoring the normal operational command system and minimizing public anxiety caused by the movement of military units following the lifting of emergency martial law.

However, level 2 of alert has been maintained since the declaration of martial law.

Chairman Kim is also said to have a joint call with the commander of the ROK-U.S. Combined Forces this morning.
