Speaking at a conference of the Royal Joint Military Research Institute, Deputy Defense Minister Alister Kans said the British Army would be consumed in six months to a year at the current rate as part of a multinational coalition in a war similar to Ukraine.
At the same time, he explained that he does not need a larger army, but that he should be able to quickly build power with depth and scale in the event of a crisis.
Kans said reserve forces were absolutely critical in the process and stressed that active reserve forces, trained resource forces capable of responding in a short period of time, should be nurtured.
In a related development, British media said that since the end of the Cold War, Britain has prioritized regular troops, which has limited investment in reserves, and pointed out a lack of training and equipment.
