In the morning, the stock market began to plunge on the news that Han Dong-hoon, the leader of People's Power, had virtually agreed to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol.
The 2,400-point KOSPI once collapsed, and the KOSDAQ index also hit its lowest level of the year.
In the stock market, the Kospi opened 0.40 percent higher at 2,451.60.
Then, it turned downward during the day, and the decline deepened as the impeachment process accelerated.
The KOSPI has fallen to 2,397.73, but has now recovered to the 2,400-point level.
Individuals are net selling more than 470 billion won, and foreigners have also switched from net buying to net selling.
On the KOSDAQ market, the KOSDAQ index started at 670.7, down 0.04%, and increased its decline, before plunging more than 3% at one point, collapsing the 650-point level.
The KOSDAQ index fell to 644.39, but has now recovered to the 650-point level.
Still, it's down more than 2%.
Like the KOSPI, the index fell as individuals net sold more than 120 billion won.
Foreigners and institutions are making net purchases. The exchange rate of
won-dollar also soared to 1,420 won.
The exchange rate had been on a downward trend after rising to 1,419.5 won overnight, but rose again due to the impeachment issue.
The exchange rate rose to 1,429.2 won and is now back to the late 1,410 won range.
The volatility of our financial market is increasing as the impeachment situation has accelerated after the martial law shock.
