The Korea Communications Commission and the Information and Communications Policy Institute released a report today that analyzed the major status of OTT and its impact on the broadcasting market.
Sales of major OTT services such as Netflix, Wave, and TVing rose 6.4%, although sales of the entire broadcasting business fell 4.7% last year from a year ago.
In addition, OTT utilization has steadily increased every year, with an average of 2.8 multiple subscriptions among paid OTT users, and the majority of the respondents said that the amount paid was increased or similar from a year ago.
The Korea Communications Commission predicted that OTT's content differentiation, exclusive sports broadcasting, and real-time broadcasting will increase the effect of replacing paid broadcasting.
