The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said that Trade Minister Jeong In-kyo visited Tokyo and met with Japan's Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Takehiko Matsuo to discuss ways to cooperate in economic and trade policies between Korea and Japan.
The talks were held for the first time since the two sides agreed to hold shuttle talks in the wake of a meeting of G20 trade and investment ministers in October.
The two sides agreed to actively pursue measures to increase negotiating power by expressing joint opinions on issues that need to be jointly responded to in the future, saying that bilateral relations are developing in a future-oriented manner, such as active exchanges between Korea and Japan after COVID-19.
