Overseas Koreans' Office Holds a Reading Concert to Tell the Story of Sakhalin Koreans

The Overseas Koreans' Office held a reading concert about the sorrows of Sakhalin Koreans' lives.Under the title of

{Together in Us, the Sakhalin Story'', the reading concert held on the 11th and 12th tells the story of a Korean girl born in Russia during the Japanese colonial period looking for her father who went to Sakhalin.

The concert was organized by four actors realistically acting and reading Kim Mi-seung's youth novel "Black Skirt Matryoshka."

More than 80 people attended the concert on the 11th at Incheon Namdong Sakhalin Center, including 23 students from Incheon Hannuri School, the first public multicultural school in Korea.

The next day, more than 100 third-year students from Sungsa Middle School attended the concert at Sungsa Middle School in Gyeonggi-do and watched the performance.

The Overseas Koreans' Office said the concert was organized as part of a commemorative project under the Special Act on Support for Sakhalin Koreans.

Lee Sang-deok, head of the Overseas Koreans Agency, explained that he will continue to make efforts to inform the history of the Sakhalin community and provide various support for compatriots to return to Korea and settle down in a stable manner.
