Macron appoints centrist Francois Byru as new prime minister

French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed François Byru, the leader of the pan-women's centrist party Modem, as the new prime minister amid turmoil in the country's political situation.

It is a follow-up to the collapse of the government led by Prime Minister Michel Barnier as the French House of Representatives passed a no-confidence motion in the government proposed by the left-wing coalition "New People's Front" on the 5th.

The no-confidence motion was approved by the New People's Front, as well as far-right parties and sympathizers.

Opposition parties have called for the president to step down to take responsibility for the chaos in state affairs, but Macron has refused and been preparing to appoint a new prime minister.

France is a two-way government system, a mixture of a presidential system and a parliamentary cabinet system, with the president having the right to appoint a prime minister and the parliament having no confidence in the government.
