"Trump's remarks are completely in line with our position and impress us," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on the 13th local time.
In an interview released by the newsweekly Time, Trump criticized Ukraine for attacking inside Russia with U.S.-backed missiles with permission from the Joe Biden administration, calling it a "major escalation and silly decision."
Peskov also evaluated, "It is clear that President-elect Trump understands exactly what is worsening the situation in Ukraine."
Russia's position is that Western countries' long-range weapons support and Ukraine's airstrikes on the mainland using them are tantamount to direct participation in the war by NATO and NATO members, and are acts that escalate the conflict.
Regarding Trump's remarks to the effect that he could reach an end-of-war agreement within 24 hours of taking power during the presidential election, Peskov said, "The preconditions for a ceasefire have not yet been in place," adding, "We want to find peace after our conditions are met and our goals are achieved."
