Lee spoke to reporters after a closed-door Supreme Council meeting ahead of the vote on the impeachment of Yoon Suk Yeol's president.
"Today is a very important and historical day to determine the fate of the Republic of Korea," he said. "People's Power Lawmakers called for the proper exercise of the authority given from a historical and national perspective as a constitutional institution representing the people."
He then stressed that the Democratic Party will do its best not to distort the path of history at a historical moment.
Asked how many votes he expects the so-called "Leave Vote," Lee replied that he would do his best, saying he did not know whether they would act for the people or for self-interest and party politics from a justice point of view.
