U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken said South Korea has shown democratic resilience in passing the impeachment motion against Yoon Suk Yeol's president.

Blinken, who visited Jordan to discuss the process of establishing Syria's next government, said at a press conference that he witnessed South Korea peacefully following the procedures outlined in the constitution.

The U.S. also said it is ready to work with Acting President Han Duck-soo.

The State Department also issued a statement in the name of spokesperson Matthew Miller, saying the United States reiterates its support for the Republic of Korea, its people, democratic procedures and the rule of law.

In particular, he stressed that the U.S. commitment to the South Korea-U.S. alliance is firm and that he expects the South Korea-U.S. alliance, which has made progress in recent years, to make further progress.
