The U.S. government has repeatedly assessed that it has confirmed Korea's democratic resilience with the passing of President Yoon's impeachment.

In particular, he stressed that the alliance between South Korea and the U.S. was formed between the people of the two countries, not the president, and that the alliance would not be disrupted by the impeachment of President Yoon.

The U.S. State Department briefing raised the question of whether the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol would disrupt the South Korea-U.S. alliance.

Spokesman Matthew Miller said the U.S.-South Korea alliance was formed between the two governments and the people, not between the presidents, adding that the U.S. commitment to South Korea remains unchanged.

[Matthew Miller / U.S. State Department spokesman: The alliance between South Korea and the U.S. is not an alliance between presidents, but an alliance between governments and the people. Our commitment to the alliance remains ironclad.

Regarding the impeachment motion being passed by the National Assembly, he said he has confirmed democratic resilience.

He evaluated it as a peaceful implementation of the constitutional procedure, saying that he had difficulty protecting Korea's democracy.

[Marsh Miller / U.S. State Department Spokesperson] I watched South Korea demonstrate its hard-won democratic resilience decades ago and peacefully follow the procedures outlined in the Constitution.]

In addition, President Biden and Acting President Han Deok-soo spoke by phone earlier, and the State Department said it was ready to continue working with the Acting President.

The U.N. also assessed the impeachment, saying at a regular press briefing that it confirmed constitutional proceedings in South Korea.

At the same time, he emphasized that he has no doubt about the power of the constitutional system of the Republic of Korea.
