All local children's centers nationwide are designated as mandatory facilities for investigation of asbestos, a first-class carcinogen.

The Ministry of Environment announced today (17th) that the revised enforcement ordinance of the Asbestos Safety Management Act will be approved at the Cabinet meeting and implemented a year after the date of promulgation.

Until now, local children's centers have been required to conduct asbestos surveys only when the total area is more than 500 square meters, but the target has been expanded to the entire center.

In addition, local children's centers less than 500 square meters must conduct asbestos surveys from the end of December next year.
