U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has said he will sue a local newspaper that reported a false poll that he was overturned just before the presidential election.

Trump held a press conference on the 16th local time and said he would sue Iowa's local newspaper Des Moines Register for defamation.

Trump described the reason for the complaint as "fraudulent, election interference."

The Des Moines Register released a poll three days before the presidential election that Democratic candidate Kamala Harris reversed Trump within a margin of error in Iowa, which is classified as a Republican stronghold, but the actual results of the vote showed Trump leading by more than 13 percentage points.

In response to Trump's complaint policy, the Des Moines Register acknowledged the mistake in the poll analysis, but said there was no problem with the report itself, and it was not an issue that could be sued.

However, in addition to the Des Moines Register, Trump said he would sue other media outlets that were biased against him, stressing that "the media should be corrected."

ABC, a terrestrial broadcaster who previously received a defamation suit from Trump, paid $15 million and 21.5 billion won in settlement on condition of the lawsuit's termination.

Trump claimed ABC anchor George Steffernopoulus was defamed, saying he described the sexual harassment 28 years ago as a "rape."
