Attention is required as spam messages about not opening foreign media articles related to former President Park Geun Hye, which were written by impersonating the police, are spreading.

According to the police on the 17th, a message titled "Urgent. Never open a CNN article titled 'Park Geun Hye's death' has been circulating around various messengers such as SNS.

The message is "spreading an e-mail titled 'South Korea of concern' related to the Choi Soon-sil case," and "[This] is an e-mail containing malicious code produced yesterday by North Korea."

"As soon as you open it, your phone is received by a North Korean hacker. Please promote it to those around you," he said, adding that he wrote the name of a specific police officer belonging to the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency at the bottom of the message.

The message was not officially sent by the police, but was identified as an impersonation message.

A police official said, "As the message is likely to cause confusion in the social atmosphere, we will continue to communicate with related organizations and focus on preventing distribution."
