Aim suggests Trump could try for a third term..."Can you run for president in 2028?"

As U.S. President-elect Donald Trump begins his second presidency in January next year, Trump's aides have claimed that Trump could run for president in 2028.

Steve Bannon, who is called Trump's artisan, said at an event in New York on the 15th, "Wouldn't Trump be able to run for president again in 2028?"

The U.S. Constitution stipulates that he cannot be elected president more than twice, but Trump has put forward the logic that he can run again because he did not serve a second term.

However, the general interpretation is that the "no one can be elected to the presidency more than once" clause in the 22nd Amendment of the United States, ratified in 1951, applies regardless of whether he is re-elected.

Trump has said he cannot run in 2028, but he has privately made several remarks suggesting a possible bid for a third term.
