The Supreme Prosecutors' Office announced today (18th) that it will transfer the case of President Yoon and Minister of Public Administration and Security Lee Sang-min to the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit after consulting with the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit.
However, the request for transfer of the case to the remaining suspects, including military officials currently under investigation, has been decided to withdraw.
The prosecution is expected to further coordinate specific investigation methods for President Yoon, who notified the summons on the 21st.
Even if the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit investigates the emergency martial law, the prosecution will be in charge of the final decision on the disposition as it does not have the authority to prosecute the president.
According to the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit Act, if the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit requests another investigative agency with overlapping investigations, the investigative agency must follow suit.
