Regarding the recent political situation, Bank of Korea Governor Lee Chang-yong said, "If economic policies are implemented separately from political processes and confidence is maintained that the economic system works normally, the impact on the economy will be limited even if political uncertainty persists for a certain period of time."

Governor Lee made the remarks at a press conference to check the operation status of the price stabilization target and diagnosed that the volatility of the domestic financial and foreign exchange markets has increased significantly since the declaration of the emergency martial law, but has recently stabilized.

He then evaluated that the future political schedule has become somewhat clearer, although there is still uncertainty as the impeachment bill was passed by the National Assembly over the weekend.

Governor Lee said, "This is a time when it is more important for our people to return to their daily lives and carry out normal economic activities than to shrink from vague fears," and stressed that the Bank of Korea will also work closely with the government to do its best to stabilize the economy.
