According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor's national labor union organization as of last year, the total number of union members increased by 0.5% from 22, and the proportion of those who joined the union fell slightly (0.1%P) to 13%.
The union organization rate was highest in the public sector at 71.6 percent, followed by 66.6 percent for civil servants, 31.4 percent for teachers and 9.8 percent for the private sector.
In addition, the Federation of Korean Trade Unions has the largest number of union members with 1.16 million, followed by the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions with 1.08 million.
