The Seoul High Court ruled today (18th) that some of the plaintiffs won a lawsuit filed against the state by two people, including Park, a developmentally disabled person.
The court ordered the plaintiffs to provide voting aids if required in public office elections, which take place a year after the date of the verdict's final decision.
Earlier, they filed a lawsuit against the state in January 2022, ahead of the 20th presidential election, claiming that they should produce picture ballots and easy-to-understand forms of election publications for disabled people to participate in voting.
However, in August last year, the first trial court rejected the lawsuit, saying legislation should precede it.
