Korea Electric Power Corp.'s Gangwon headquarters said a power outage occurred in Toegye-dong and Musa-dong around 6:15 p.m. today.
As a result, the electricity of 1,000 homes, including apartments, was temporarily cut off and traffic lights did not work, prompting police to control traffic with a reception signal.
KEPCO conducted emergency restoration work and resumed power supply to 920 households at around 7 p.m. and plans to complete power restoration for the remaining 80 households by 10 p.m.
KEPCO believes that the cold wave caused a problem with the transformer power facility.
