Bloomberg obtained a draft joint statement and reported that China was not included in the wording criticizing third countries supporting Russia in the war in Ukraine.
In the case of Iran and North Korea, it was stated that it "strongly condemns" the provision of weapons to Russia and the dispatch of troops.
But in the drafting process, several member states have expressed their position that China should also be included, and there could also be issues raised on the day of the summit, Bloomberg said, citing unnamed sources.
Earlier on the 16th, the EU adopted the 15th sanctions against Russia, putting several Chinese nationals and companies on the sanctions list for providing Russia with technology that can be used militarily or helping Russia avoid sanctions.
