An Uzbek man in his 20s has been arrested for killing a Russian fire and defense commander in the middle of Moscow.
Russia's Federal Security Service says the suspect was ordered after he was captured by Ukrainian special authorities.
The man mounted a powerful hand-made explosive device on an electric scooter parked at the entrance of the apartment where Commander Kirilov lives.
Prior to the crime, a Wi-Fi video camera was used to monitor the area around the building, which sent the photos collected to the Ukrainian special authorities.
[Svetlana Petrenko / Spokesperson for the Russian Commission of Inquiry: It was promised US$100,000 by Ukraine and a move to one of the EU countries in exchange for carrying out the crime.]
The BBC said the assassination broke through Moscow's daily life and that the sophistication of the operation was remarkable.
The Telegraph also analyzed that such a precise attack is a characteristic of Ukraine's special authorities, saying that it was carefully calculated to spread fear inside Russia.
Ukraine has been conducting a bold assassination operation in the last two months, which points to the deep infiltration of Ukrainian spies into Russia.
This is interpreted as a paving stone to take the lead in the war ahead of U.S. President-elect Trump's return to the White House.
It is a strategy to turn the tide of the war by all means when it is pushed by the Russian military on the eastern front, and the Russian Kremlin is also paying keen attention.
[Dmitri Peskov / Kremlin spokesman] It's obvious who gave the order and planned it. It has been confirmed again that the Kyiv regime does not mind terrorist methods.
While Russia has lost face due to a series of assassinations in its own country, it is observed that a series of events could cause considerable turbulence in internal public opinion.
