U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken has met with U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, who has been named Trump's second secretary of state, the State Department says.

Vedant Patel, a senior deputy spokesman for the State Department, introduced Blinken and Rubio at a briefing on the 18th local time that they had a constructive, substantive and good conversation.

At the meeting for the transition of business, discussions such as the possibility of North Korea's provocations before and after the U.S. regime change, the war in Ukraine, and intensifying military cooperation between North Korea and Russia are likely to have been exchanged.

Rubio, a hardliner on China and North Korea, will become the first Hispanic secretary of state in U.S. history if he passes the Senate confirmation.
