Russia, which recently revised its "nuclear doctrine," has made yet more nuclear threat remarks to the West, including "nuclear disaster."
In particular, he criticized the U.S. for creating a situation that exceeds the nuclear deterrence threshold, such as forming the so-called Asian version of NATO.

"Army control has become a thing of the past"
Valery Gerasimov, the chief of the general staff of the Russian military, told foreign officers in Russia that the West has reached a point where they cannot be trusted.
In particular, he criticized the U.S. for deploying medium and short-range missiles in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, causing a "strategic attack weapons competition" that touches its nuclear deterrence threshold.
They also argued that a NATO structure in Asia is being created, with the three-way alliance of the United States, Japan and South Korea playing major roles.

Russia's deputy foreign minister also warned that the U.S. could cause a nuclear disaster by pressuring Russia, China and North Korea, which have nuclear weapons.
The reckless geopolitical game played by the United States and NATO could create the risk of actually using nuclear weapons.

Sergei said, however, that there has been no contact between Russia and President-elect Trump, but that he is ready to discuss ways to normalize relations with the new administration in the United States.
