Acting President Han Deok-soo exercised his veto power, or demand for reconsideration of six issues passed by the opposition party after an extraordinary Cabinet meeting at 10 a.m. today.

The targets include the amendment to the Grain Management Act, which was passed by the National Assembly last month led by the opposition party, the 4 Agricultural Acts, the National Assembly Act, and the National Assembly Testimony Appraisal Act.

"The government cannot help but make a responsible decision that puts the spirit of the constitution and the future of the country first," acting Han Deok-soo said, explaining the purpose of exercising the veto.

In particular, he also revealed the reason why he made a request for reconsideration by pointing out the bills that were subject to reconsideration this time.

Representatively, in the case of the amendment to the Grain Management Act, as it is known, the government guarantees the difference if it falls below the market price along with the mandatory purchase of rice.
He explained that if the
is implemented, the government will fix the oversupply structure of rice and the government will intervene excessively, increasing the financial burden.

The Agricultural and Marine Products Price Stabilization Act, which contains similar information, will have the same side effects as the Grain Management Act.

Regarding the amendment to the National Assembly Act, which allows the Special Committee on Budget and the Standing Committee to continue the review after November 30th,

The National Assembly has revealed the reason for the veto, saying it is contrary to the constitutional purpose set by the minimum standards to be observed.

Regarding the National Assembly Testimony Appraisal Act, he explained that it is highly likely to violate the basic rights of the people, the freedom of the body.

Acting Han Deok-soo completed the process of re-approval requests for these six bills immediately after the end of the extraordinary State Council.

The National Assembly once again appealed for an in-depth discussion of the bill and a desirable alternative.
